The Programmer's Bill of Rights

Below is an article I get from VT.. we all in the IT line..
i supposed u guys WILL agree with this article! =D

It's unbelievable to me that a company would pay a developer $60-$100k in salary, yet cripple him or her with terrible working conditions and crusty hand-me-down hardware. This makes no business sense whatsoever. And yet I see it all the time. It's shocking how many companies still don't provide software developers with the essential things they need to succeed.

I propose we adopt a Programmer's Bill of Rights, protecting the rights of programmers by preventing companies from denying them the fundamentals they need to be successful.

Every programmer shall have two monitors
With the crashing prices of LCDs and the ubiquity of dual-output video cards, you'd be crazy to limit your developers to a single screen. The productivity benefits of doubling your desktop are well documented by now. If you want to maximize developer productivity, make sure each developer has two monitors.
Two monitors anot is still not a problem to me,
but a bigger screen will be nice ^-^

Every programmer shall have a fast PC
Developers are required to run a lot of software to get their jobs done: development environments, database engines, web servers, virtual machines, and so forth. Running all this software requires a fast PC with lots of memory. The faster a developer's PC is, the faster they can cycle through debug and compile cycles. You'd be foolish to pay the extortionist prices for the extreme top of the current performance heap-- but always make sure you're buying near the top end. Outfit your developers with fast PCs that have lots of memory. Time spent staring at a progress bar is wasted time.
I TOTALLY AGREE WITH THIS!! OH MAN~~~

Every programmer shall have their choice of mouse and keyboard
In college, I ran a painting business. Every painter I hired had to buy their own brushes. This was one of the first things I learned. Throwing a standard brush at new painters didn't work. The "company" brushes were quickly neglected and degenerated into a state of disrepair. But painters who bought their own brushes took care of them. Painters who bought their own brushes learned to appreciate the difference between the professional $20 brush they owned and cheap disposable dollar store brushes. Having their own brush engendered a sense of enduring responsibility and craftsmanship. Programmers should have the same relationship with their mouse and keyboard-- they are the essential, workaday tools we use to practice our craft and should be treated as such.
OH TAT WILL BE PERFECTLY GREAT~

Every programmer shall have a comfortable chair
Let's face it. We make our livings largely by sitting on our butts for 8 hours a day. Why not spend that 8 hours in a comfortable, well-designed chair? Give developers chairs that make sitting for 8 hours not just tolerable, but enjoyable. Sure, you hire developers primarily for their giant brains, but don't forget your developers' other assets.
Hmmm...yes, i sleep..err i mean sit the whole day..
i wouldnt want a bad spinecord at d end of the day.

Every programmer shall have a fast internet connection
Good programmers never write what they can steal. And the internet is the best conduit for stolen material ever invented. I'm all for books, but it's hard to imagine getting any work done without fast, responsive internet searches at my fingertips.
YES OF COS.. else how to surf net?! wahahaha...

Every programmer shall have quiet working conditions
Programming requires focused mental concentration. Programmers cannot work effectively in an interrupt-driven environment. Make sure your working environment protects your programmers' flow state, otherwise they'll waste most of their time bouncing back and forth between distractions.
I will rather want a quiet telephone that dun ring~~

The few basic rights we're asking for are easy. They aren't extravagant demands. They're fundamental to the quality of work life for a software developer. If the company you work for isn't getting it right, making it right is neither expensive nor difficult. Demand your rights as a programmer! And remember: you can either change your company, or you can change your company.

The Break-up move was truely reality~
but i juz loved how they bring the point across to the viewers...
i tink guys and gals shld simply watch it! =D
gals will understand how unreasonable they can get sometimes..
and guys will understand how stupid they can get MOST of the times!

Monday-No-Blue~~ =D

din reali hv any monday blues.. cos it was a busy busy day at work too.. anyway my round1 asgts are done.. though shld start on asgt2 liao.. but c'mon, i nid a lil' break~ hee.. so here comes the below conversation -.-

SYL: "Hey, wana go shoppin tonite?"

ME: "Onz Onz.. where where"

SYL: "Cityhall or Town, what time can u reach?"

ME: "Okay, 6.30pm at citylink. Dine at NewYork NewYork."

SYL: "Ok! See ya!"

there wasnt any draggy qns to decide on anything and we were out there shoppin.. though din reali buy wad la.. but had a nice nice dinner
but not at NYNY... hee.. cos so qiao some fren of hers appeared juz before we stepped in.. sayin the food there not nice -.- hahaah and we headed somewhere else le.. =D oh ya.. and i got a treat from her~ wahahahaa... k la.. nxt time treat u back.. ;p

it's always nice to meet up with ppl whom u can speak so freely.. most imptly, the level of understanding~~ juz a "eh?" or juz a look~ u get it, i get it. =D

we were there almost whole day from ten to three plus four.... ahhaaa went to 四马路 to pray after tat.. cos tricia gg with her bf.. so we went too.. then ate an early dinner and i came home to rest le.. hehehee.. finally after so many nites of work.. even my dad... comes home everyday see me doin asgt, no tv.. he oso sensed tat i'm realli busy.. hahahaa.. ok now can rest for a couple of days!! cos gotta start doin multimedia asgt2!!! =X

痛苦啊~~~!

it's reali a small world.. and this small world happened to be all at orchard on a tuesday evening! hahahaa.. i reached orchard ctrl, lui asked me to call her... first thing i asked where she was.. she said orchard mrt -.- then i went to find her~~ hahaha then as we are walkin towards Taka.. i saw Peiyu and Jeff~~! wahahaa... but too many ppl along tat path... and i was late -.- so we juz Hi-Bye and continue walkin to Taka to meet up with Jun and Mei... hahaha... those who noe me... wil noe.. i love bumpin into ppl on the streets.. duno why leh.. keke.. you will experience the feeling of 好友满天下！ wahahahahaahahaha.. aiya kiddin la.. hehhe.. but when ppl u meet up happened to be not your type of frens... errr tats not so good afterall.. hahaa...

cos it's a torture to sit in a dinner with people u hardly feel like talkin to... indeed a torture.. u hv to fake smiles... u hv to "socialise"... it's juz the 2nd day of the week.. i've been to such dinners on both days.. i am reali tired attending such dinners.. hah.. yes u get to eat good food.. but i think wadever lobster is also tasteless when u are dining with the wrong people =X juz 2hrs of dining, seemed like 4-5hrs to us.. end of the day.. still gotta take sqeeze the stupid train home... ben si le...

today was juz like any other working days... i had to wake up early in the mornin.. i dun feel like it's a sunday mornin at all! cos tricia yongquan and i meet up for java asgt!! whew... finally got it kicked off... but now i'm only at the stage to make it work not to even tink abt efficiency yet -.-"

anyway.. 3 of us met up at 9am for Mac breakfast!Weeeeee~~ WooHooo~~~ and then all the way 10am to 5pm! JAVA JAVA JAVA~~~~ til all of us were brain-dead.. and had dinner.. headed HOME!

back home, i dun feel like doin anythin.. so i started watching healing hands 3.. watch until i dozed off on the uncomfortable chair!! wahahaa.. nearly wana climbed to my bed to slp le.. but look at the clock.. 8pm nia... if i slp tmr sure die... cos i noe i'll wake up middle of the nite -.- hahaa...

tmr mornin muz wake up earlier to meet vt at Yishun! return him his labtop.. whew heng he lent me lehh! else i gotta go back to ofc to get it ytd... Heee...

a very busy busy monday and tuesday at work! i dun even hv time to reply some of the msn msg!! =X

ytd i went to SGH to visit my uncle.. it's always sad to step into a hospital to visit some one i know. though i dun like tat feeling, but i guess patients will hope to see more relatives ard their bed bah.. so i stil went.. but... seeing my uncle lying there.. fighting this detestable illness.. haizzzzz...

today was multimedia class.. hahhaa but our hearts were thinkin abt java asgt.. haizzz... gotta get started soon! juz pushed off the genting trip bcos of this asgt.. haiz.. I'M SORRIE ok.. heheheee..

tmr no class! WooHoooooo~~~!!!! can come home earlier.. hehee~~

Great Experience earned

so at 5.30pm on the dot, i left!
wholeday at work was so-so only..
a few emails and phonecalls..
but managed to solve all the problems before i leave!
my mgr treated us "awfully chocolate" cake!
yummy yummy! hehee..so i took a photo of it =p



back home, past by ntuc, so went in to buy milk.. who knows i received a call from another mgr! askin me to help solve problem for the m'sia users!! OH MY GOD.. i'm home already ehh!! haiz.. juz not my day.. i even brought my labtop back.. but start up then realise... i dun hv VPN!!! argh.. nobody in ofc... one of the other teams' mgr couldnt send me the .exe say file too big haiz.. then she said "i'll leave the door unlocked for u, u take a cab here, can claim back the money on money. " -.-

ok lo... wad else can i say... i call a cab, got changed, and shutdown labtop, off i go... hahaha.. actually, i wasnt unhappy at all abt gg back lehh.. i was in fact quite happy to be able to help.. as long as i can solve the problem.. BUT one thing i am still thinkin abt the knot tats STILL in my heart... haiz.. ok ok.. enough of tat.. i was alone in the office whole nite until 10pm... keep drinkin the packet of milk.. now damn full.. dun even nid dinner.. wahahaa i was communicating with the users via msn, and finally the user told me "OK!" no more problem, i can go home le~~ heheehhehe... Whew~~!

the cab to ofc cost me $20.. and tat was even borrowed from auntie -.- so wallet empty, no atm nearby.. so i took a train back lo.. bobianz... aiya.. but the stupid train.. first announced Raffles Place when it's at Orchard, then the driver spoke with broken english:

"Attention preeaseee, for your information, the station is Orchard."

including myself, and the other passengers all laughed out.. hahaha.. then ltr the driver made another broken english announcement again..

"Attention preesee.. the train will terminting at ang3 mo3 kio2~

hahaha.. reali funny lehh.. keke..

finally home at 11pm, my day is ended as i walked past a durian stall, the ahbeng seller say:

"美女，做么这么sian， 来，吃点榴莲就会开心了，我看你这样sian，有什么心事跟我讲！"

i've two frens flying to taiwan..
a flight at 1+ another at 2+....
ohhh man.. if only i'm on the flight too.. haaa
i've been wantin to go taiwan!!
hv finally persuaded my dad to let me go,

i will save up!!!!!!! haha...
hong kong was my first stop.. a memorable and unforgettable one~
nw juz awaiting duno when can carry out the nxt destination =D
this holiday mood hv already lasted for a month..
i juz couldnt start my asgt engine! haha..
been slackin for a few days after starting a paragraph -.-
hmmm thank god today's lesson everything was back to normal
which i'm then able to relax abit only =X
but i promise myself to get the engine started this weekend! =D

F I R E W O R K S

as planned, we went to esplanade to see the fireworks..

there was a little hiccup at first tat scare-ed me~
b joined us after skippin 2nd half of his class.. walked thru all the crowds to locate us.. on the phone with j, who cant reali hear him with those loud national day songs as background... i realli pity j this time round

b: "god damn u!!!"

we all tot he was kiddin as usual..

b: ""wad the F***~ u ask me to walk to the stage! i walked all the way from here to tat stage, and find my way back here! wad the F***~@@$@#^*#!@ blah blah blah blah..."

now there was some pushing...

j: "what.. no no cos i din noe u walked frm tat direction!"

b: "wad do u mean u duno.. u asked me to walk above citylink, and u say u duno i come from here!!?@? and so u call this the best spot?! so crowded~~ blah blah"

j: (getting bo si mi song) "u take a look yourself! so many ppl, where else can we go!?!!?? u see it yourself lor!! u see lor!!!!!"

meanwhile, i keep telling them off "enough le enough le! stop it~~" but i was practically being ignored -.- and ppl ard us were all starin at us lorr..

but fortunately, they stopped, and ltr things got fine. *whew~ sweatz*

it's Singapore team's art tonite..
too bad.. it wasnt as eye-opening as i expected..
perhaps its' all the waiting, sweating, stuffy and squeezy...
tat spoilt almost half of my mood...haa..
but seein fireworks fallin all over juz above your head,
the feeling is still kinda shakin.. haha..
though not tat impressive, but overall stil nice la..
at least get to see it at near view..

i was the only one who din hv one.. hahaa

had too much smoke, and too messy..

nice cars.. nice stunts.. but storyline so so only...
drifting seems soooo 理所当然 and easy to master~
good engines and good cars seemed too easy to own...
hahaa.. made me felt tat i oso wana go for a drift!
they can drift in the public.. with human jams and car jams!
but seemed sooo impossible in this lion city... hehee..
